Virginia Pauline Hatfield Snider, 92, passed away Wednesday, October 26. 2022 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born November 8, 1929 in Belle Vernon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Paul Hatfield and Alta Gail Cunningham Hatfield.
Virginia was a 1947 graduate of Mannington High School. Eugene Wayne Snider on March 16, 1948.
Virginia worked as a correspondent for both the Beckley Post Herald and the Independent Herald newspapers. She graduated from Practical Nurses School in May of 1978. She was a member of Oceana United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a 4-H leader, a member of the Eastern Star, a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls and a member of the Girl Scouts.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and particularly loved babysitting and helping with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; a son, James Lee; and a sister, Sally Efaw.
She is survived by children, Gary Snider and wife Nell of Oceana, David Snider and wife Sharon of Swansea, SC and Susan Plumley and husband Michael of Bluefield; grandchildren, Richard Snider and wife Amy , Matthew Snider and Anil Moore, Adrienne Jackson and husband Adam, Katie Sizemore and husband Josh, Elisabeth Plumley and Victoria Browning and husband Andrew and five great-grandchildren: Sullivan and Hudson Jackson, Rory Titus, Benjamin Sizemore and Colt Browning; and four sisters and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or another children’s charity of one’s choice.
