She leaves behind her husband, Gary Lee Hurd, of Saulsville, WV, whom she met while working
at the West Virginia State Fair. They wed on October 20, 1973 and just celebrated 50 wonderful years of
marriage. They have two children, Cynthia Hurd, married to Ricardo Gonzalez, of Annapolis Maryland,

two sisters-in-law, Helen Hurd of Lewisburg, WV and Brenda Bluestone of Ithaca, NY.
Sue graduated from Mullens High School in 1965 and although she was a Mullens Rebel, she was
a passionate and enthusiastic fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers, never missing a game if she could
help it, keeping up with the players and the stats, celebrating their highs and suffering their lows. She
will forever be a Mountaineer.
Sue worked as a legal secretary in Pineville, WV for 42 years, but it was her dedication to God
and to her church that brought her the most joy and she served both with heartfelt devotion. She was a
respected and beloved parishioner of Saulsville Baptist Church for most of her life and gave of her time

She loved this state, she loved her home and the roots she had here, she loved the animals she rescued
and adopted, and she loved her family fiercely. She was a wife, a daughter, a mother, a nana, a sister, a
cousin, and a friend to so many people and she will be missed more than she could have ever, ever
