Steven Wayne Johnson Jr, 48, of Cross Lanes, departed this life on December 22, 2024. Steven was born in Welch on September 16, 1976, to Steven Wayne Johnson Sr and Clara Sue Potter Johnson. Steven was a skilled mechanic and enjoyed working on vehicles. He spent a significant portion of his life as a truck driver, a profession that followed in his fathers’ footsteps. Steven was also a proud Chevy enthusiast, but his greatest joy in life was his grandbabies. He cherished every moment that he got to spend with them. In 2012, Steven was baptized as a Christian, becoming a man of God whose faith guided him throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rainy and Alvery Potter. One brother, James Johnson. His nephew, Jacob Paul, and his “Mama Ruth”.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Patricia Johnson. His daughters: Kimberly Pelphrey and husband Chad, Kelsey Johnson and companion Dan, Kayla Johnson and companion Adrian, Kandace Kincaid and husband Matthew, and Kassidy Johnson. His one and only son, Kenneth Johnson. Seven grandchildren: Jayden Isaac, Owen Isaac, Marleigh Isaac, Walker Kincaid, Millie Kincaid, Renley Reed, and Sterling Reed. His sister-Michela, and brother-Brayden. A special aunt and uncle who are like a brother and sister to him, Juanita and Ricky Potter, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Steven’s children and their significant others will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Monday, December 30 at 12:00pm at the Evans-Calfee Funeral Service Chapel. The Funeral will immediately follow at 1:00pm, officiated by Ricky Potter. Steven will be laid to rest in the Rose Cemetery in Big Creek, WV.
