Shirley Mavis Brown

Shirley Mavis Brown, 83, of Cyclone, WV, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2024. She was born on March 2, 1941 in Cyclone, WV, a daughter of the late Joseph Lee Blankenship and Inez Vada Brown Blankenship. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mavis was a long time member of the Cyclone Missionary Baptist Church, the Cyclone Missionary Baptist Church Ladies Aide, and was always played a huge role in Vacation Bible School. She loved fishing and working the polls every year, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her family who she loved more than anything.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Bobby Lee Brown, Sr.; two sons, Bobby Lee Brown, Jr. and Ricky Gene Brown; two brothers, Stacy Lee Blankenship and Earl Gene Blankenship; and two sisters, Janice Daniels and Geraldine Perry.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son Eric Waitman Brown and wife Karen of Oceana, seven grandchildren Tiffany Hunt of Huntington , Christopher Blake Brown and wife Venus of Charleston, Candace Brown Blankenship and husband Bilton of Cyclone, Blake Brown of Cyclone, Derek Brown of Oceana, Jordan Brown Patton and spouse Morgan of Georgia, and Ian Brown of Sun Hill; six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Grace Hunt, Jaci Lynn Blankenship, Braylee Blankenship, Brodie Blankenship, Hazel and Brantley Brown, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, October 23rd, at Cyclone Missionary Baptist Church, Cyclone, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11 until time of service Wednesday at the church. She will be laid to rest at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
