Roy Daryel Jones

Roy Daryel Jones, 76, of Covel, WV passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025.

He was born March 4, 1948, in Bluefield, WV, to the late Ralph Augustus Jones and Frances Akers Jones.

Mr. Jones was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving, from 1967 -1978. He and his brother David enlisted together on October 26, 1967. His life was marked by courage, duty and an unspoken strength that touched those that knew him, even from afar. Daryel carried the spirit of a Marine throughout his life, facing challenges with resilience and grit.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Jones Jr. and David Jones.

Survivors include his two daughters Tiffany Young and husband David of Castlewood, VA and Lisa Jones of Beauford, South Carolina. Daryel raised six stepchildren, Laura Goode and companion Hank Fuller of Iroquois, Daniel Goode of Ohio, Ruby Cross and husband Andrew of Basin, Aril Ross and companion Carol Whittaker of Beckley, BJ Billy Ross of the home, and Ashlyn Griggs and companion Brian Kinser of Basin. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Hayes and husband Richard of New Canton, VA; his best friend Thomas Griggs of Pineville, WV; and his wife Chanda Jones of Covel, WV.
