Ralph Eugene Poland went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 23, while residing at the Davis & McDaniel Veterans Care Center in Salem, Virginia.
He was born on November 26, 1925, to Asa Thomas Poland and June Lemley Poland.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith Rose Poland, who passed away on December 29, 2018. Together, they shared more than 70 years of marriage.
Mr. Poland proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, spending time in the South Pacific.
He retired from Consolidated Gas Company after more than 40 years of dedicated service.
Ralph was a faithful member of Oceana United Methodist Church for many years before moving away. He found great joy in singing in the choir and participating in the church prayer chain.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Lawrence and her husband, Steve, of Albany, Georgia, and his son, Thomas Poland and his wife, Sandy, of Salem, Virginia. He was also blessed with five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
