Philip Nathaniel Reed, also known as "Grandaddy," passed away peacefully at 89, surrounded by his family at their home in Keyrock.
He was born in the Amigo area on June 10, 1934, to Alfred and Edna (McKinney) Reed.
Philip was a member of the United States Air Force, and he was honorably discharged. He later retired from Peabody Coal and Mingo Logan Coal. Philip enjoyed four wheeling through the mountains of Wyoming County, ginseng, and spending time with his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandson in his free time, playing Twister, bowling, and board games.
Philip was preceded in death by his wife, "Johnnie" Reed, and his three brothers, Richard, Russell, and Marshall.
He is survived by his brother Warren and sister Edna, his daughter Yvonne (Reed) Wilcox of Hotchkiss, and his sons Phil Reed (Rene) of Williamsburg, Russell, and John Alfred of Keyrock. He also leaves several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 1 o'clock at Stewart Cemetery in Keyrock; everyone is welcome to attend and share a memory of their journey with Philip.
