Peggy Tilley Obituary

Peggy D. Tilley, 73, passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at her home in Ravencliff.

Born on April 23, 1947 in Glen Rogers, WV, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Stewart and Alma Pauley Stewart.

Over the years, Peggy worked as a cook for the Wyoming County Board of Education, as a clerk at Magic Mart and enjoyed her time spent as a homemaker. She loved cooking, spoiling her grandchildren and shopping. She was a member of Sweet Home Freewill Baptist Church at Maben.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Jay Tilley; brothers, Stanley, John and Arnold Stewart; and sisters, Ann Harris, Margie Mullins, Mary Lewis, Francis Adkins and Mildred Stewart.

In addition to her husband of fifty-six years, Jackie Ray, Peggy is survived by her son, Rickey Ray Tilley of the residence; daughters, Barbara Cook and husband, Herman of Ravencliff and Debra Shumate of Glen Fork; grandchildren, Chandra Carothers and husband, Ryan of Daniels and Derrick Shumate and wife, Anna of Meqeon, WIS; great-grandchildren, Zane Carothers (the love of her life) and Luke, Maggie and Camilla Shumate; a host of nieces and nephews on both the Stewart and Tilley sides; her special friends, Joan Dixon and Ethelene Neal; a special sister-in-law, Margaret Stewart Cook; and her Tennessee traveling buddy, Patty Canada.

Peggy was especially grateful to Debbie Trump for helping her and left a special thank you to her nieces, Pam, Phyllis and Sue.
