Our dear Necy, Patricia “Denise” Bower Byars, left us suddenly on Saturday April 1, 2023. She was born March 11, 1969 to loving parents Harry Bower and Judy Halsey Bower. Necy was a lifelong resident of McGraws, WV and a 1987 graduate of Glen Rogers High School. She was predeceased by her daddy Harry, her beloved cats “baby” Sky and Flossie, and many other loved ones. In life, she mourned deeply for her daddy- Necy was a keeper of memories, she reminisced often of days gone by with those she lost, as well as, with her living family and friends. Her sentimental soul made her an enduring friend to so many, all of whom she followed and connected with throughout her life. Her love and loyalty had no boundaries and we, her family, are amazed at the number of people she touched. Left to embrace Necy’s memory in the home are her mother Judy and her cats Bigfoot and Nosey. She was a fierce protector of her mother and was very diligent and commited in her role as Judy’s caregiver. This loss has left Judy overwhelmed and we ask that everyone pray for her as she learns how to live without her best friend and constant companion. We also ask the you respect Judy’s request to limit phone calls and visits, she truly doesn’t feel up to it yet. She is also survived by maternal aunts, Deborah Halstead (Andrew) and Michelle Cozort (Chris), paternal uncle Bob Bower (Sue) and aunts Jane Bower Stover, Eve Bower Kite and Bonnie Alice Bower Mace. Necy also left behind a good friend and neighbor, Charlie Wyatt, who was a daily part of her life and there for her in her last moments. She had many many cousins and she adored them all, “Old Necy” was especially proud to watch the youngest generation of “her babies” growing up and sharing their milestones with everyone. Cousin Ashley Halstead Cook’s (Bo) children– Casey, Allie, and Gray were very special to her and they often spent days with Necy and Judy at their home. Cousin Megan Cozort (fiancé Caleb Lilly) was her Necy’s “Bully Babe” and she always looked forward to witnessing in person and bragging on all Megan’s accomplishments. Honestly, Necy had a special nickname and relationship with just about every cousin and there just isn’t enough words to name or explain all those special relationships. What a beautiful legacy to leave behind– too many people to name in your obituary. She would want you all to know that your bond with her made her truly happy and each of you will see her again someday – in the meantime your Necy will be watching over you. Anyone who knew her would agree she was a one of a kind spirit and her loss will leave an empty space in many hearts. We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her daddy, her special kitty “baby” Sky and all the family members and friends she visited often and dutifully in remembrance. We envision a joyous celebration and welcoming embraces lined up as she entered the gates of Heaven. Her faith was strong and she is without a doubt watching over us right now as a guardian Angel, with that big beautiful smile on her face she is holding her daddy’s hand and petting her “baby” Sky- what a sight! We feel in our hearts that Necy will always be near and cheering us on, just like she did in life.
