Nicholas Wilson Obituary

Nicholas Joseph Wilson (Nick) 42, of Pineville, West Virginia, passed away suddenly from cardiac arrest, in his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on January 18, 2022. Nick was born on June 30, 1979, in Beckley, West Virginia, to Karen Anne Lynch and the late Enos Michael Wilson.

Nick had a passion and love for life, loving nothing more than his mother, brother, fiancé, family and close friends.

He was a 1997 graduate of Pineville High School and the Wyoming County Vocational and Technical Center, where he developed a love for welding, in which he obtained and held more certifications than can be named. As a small child he spent countless hours and days with Pawpaw Bill, his lifelong best friend, tending oil and gas wells for Cabot Oil and Gas. As he got older, he learned to work a wrench under the guidance of his Pawpaw Jim, which fostered his love of mechanics and creativity.

Nick loved everything related to the outdoors, especially fishing. Since he was a little boy he had an obsession with collecting knives, many being handed down to him by his grandfathers. He had a passion for absorbing history, like his Pawpaw Jim, and likely knew more about historical facts than his mother, a (thirty-year) history teacher. He enjoyed listening to classic country music, loving songs that would paint pictures and vividly tell stories. Above all else, he was kind and generous, and loved nothing more than spending time with his family and close friends.

Preceding him in death was his father Enos Michael Wilson; his paternal grandparents Willman Enos (Bill) and Maizie Marie Wilson; and his maternal grandparents James Richard (Jim) and Mary Anne Lynch; his Aunt Nancy Hames; and his Uncles Steve Hammond and Ron Roberts. Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Karen Anne Lynch of Pineville; his brother Michael Shannon “Bub” Wilson and wife Angela, of Parkersburg, WV; and the joys of his life Abbi, Annalee, and Kenlea; his fiancé (Hazel) Rebecca Kennedy Wilson, and her children Ashton Toler, Aiden Toler, and Kendra Lawrence of Pineville, WV; his Aunt Cecilia Hammond of Alpharetta, GA; his Aunt Margarett Roberts of Jacksonville, FL; his Uncle James R. Lynch, Jr. and Aunt Lisa Ansel Lynch of Mooresville, NC, and his cousins William Lynch of Champaign, IL, Bailey Lynch of Huntersville, NC, and Adam Lynch of Huntersville, NC; his Uncle Kenny Hames of Douglasville, GA, and his cousin Chris Hames, and wife Sherie of Douglasville, GA; and a large, supportive, and loving extended family of great aunts and uncles and cousins.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the Pineville Volunteer Fire Department for the compassionate care shown to Nick.

Nick had the honor of being raised with his Great ”Huncle” Ray, who had Down’s Syndrome, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Nicholas Wilson to Special Olympics International at: https://support.specialolympics.org
