Natasha “Alex” Alexandra Carter Lafferty, born December 22, 1989, forever a precious 10-year-old child, was recovered along with her mother, Susan Carter on April 22, 2024. No longer missing after twenty-five years, her and her mother are finally home at last.
Gone too soon, our angel, Alex, was a loving, caring child, always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone who looked like they may be in need. Smart, well-behaved, and well-mannered, Alex was mature beyond her years. Baptized at an early age, she attended Oceana Church of God and had a great love for Jesus.
In addition to her mother, Alex was preceded in death by her grandfather, Clifford Webb.
She is forever loved by her father, Ricky Lafferty; grandmother, Shirley Day; half-sisters, Emma Day and Chasity Carter; uncles Mike Lafferty and Randy Lafferty and wife Linda, and her aunts, Arbutus Lafferty and Debbie Hawkins and husband Ronnie; cousins, Michael Paul Lafferty, Austin Snuffer and wife Michelle, Vicki Cline, and Courtney Meadows (Who’s podcast, Mountain State Mysteries, played a pivotal role in the recovery of Alex and her mother); great-uncles, Harold Dean Snuffer, Darrell Arnold Snuffer and Darry Lane Snuffer and wife Christine; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family is eternally grateful and extends a heartfelt thank you to FBI agents, Jennifer King, and Sharon Hammon; the WV State police and the hard-working K-9 officers who aided in the search for Alex and her mother; former prosecutor Ben Hatfield; and investigator Jeff Shumate. It is because of the dedication of all these people that we are finally able to lay our angel to rest.
