Nancy Louise Clay, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died Monday, October
23, 2023, at her home in Saulsville, WV. The daughter of the late Wayne and Alpha Clay, Nancy was
born in Maben, WV on Jan 23, 1938. Nancy lived in Maben, WV and Glen Rogers, WV before moving to
Saulsville which she proudly called home.
Nancy taught for over 30 years at various schools in Wyoming County including John McGraw
Elementary, before retiring in 1996 from Glen Fork Elementary. She had the pleasure of teaching each
of her 3 sons, Donald, Steve, and Jeff during her exemplary career.
Nancy was an active long-term member of Saulsville Baptist Church, singing in the choir and joyfully
serving in Church bake sales and various community events. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening,
taking pictures, scrapbooking, and travelling, having visited each of lower 48 states and Canada. She
loved documenting the history of her family, friends, town, and county compiling multiple scrapbooks
and diaries preserving memories to share. Nancy loved spending time with family and friends no matter
the location or occasion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; 2 brothers, Alvin and Robert and her sister, Doris
Bialas. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Donald and his wife Kathy of Saulsville, Steve and
his wife Sue of Saulsville, and Jeff and his wife Sue of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Kim and her
husband Claude, Jonathan, Steven and his wife Page, Cory, Kristin and Tyler; great-grandchildren Jadin
and his wife Ashley and Carli. Her serving heart and giving nature made her loved by all who knew her.
Friends may gather with the family at the Saulsville Baptist Church on Saturday, October 28 th beginning
at noon. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Michael Knotts officiating. Burial will follow in
the Henry Clay Cemetery.
