Murl Audrey (West) Darnell

Murl Audrey Darnell, 94 gained her angel wings on Saturday December 5, 2020 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Murl loved to travel! She loved her camp on the Greenbrier River where she and George made wonderful memories together.

She loved her yearly trips to Arizona to spend the winter months with her son, sister and her family. Anyone that knew Murl knew she loved to stay on the roads!

Murl was a lifelog member of the First Church of God of Oceana, in which she never missed a service when she was able to attend. Murl was a member of the Oceana Extension of Homemakers and the Ladies Circle group of Oceana First Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her wonderful husband of fifty-seven years, George Darnell; her daughter, Karen Darnell Pratt; her sister, Edna Setser; and daughter-in-law, Marie Darnell.

She is survived by her son, David Darnell Sr. of Chandler, Arizona; three grandchildren, David Darnell Jr. of Yuma, Arizona, Peter Darnell and wife, Candy of Anderson Township, Ohio and a Kelli Pratt Show and husband, Greg of Winfield, WV; her sister, Margaret Pauley of Prescott, Arizona; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Murl had two precious neighbors whom she considered extended family, Deloris Maynard and husband, Johnny and Marie Green and husband, David. They were all very special to her and she loved them dearly.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to her caregiver, Diana Jerome. It is the wonderful care that Diana provided that allowed Murl to stay in her home for the last three years of her illness, as she wished. The family will always be grateful for Diana.

Also, the family is so thankful for the wonderful staff at Bowers Hospice House, for all the care and compassion that was shown not just to Murl but her family members as well.
