Morris Joe Davis, 87, departed his earthly home to arrive to be with his Heavenly Father on June 13, 2024 at Hospice of Southern West Virginia surrounded by his loving family. Born November 08, 1936, at Baileysville, he was the son of Morris French Davis and Nina Shields Davis Webb. He was helped along the way by his loving stepfather, Donald E. Webb. Morris was raised and lived his entire life on the banks of the Guyandotte River. His father was killed in a mining accident when he was an infant, and his mother Nina raised Morris and his brother Bob with the help of her parents, and gave the world two wonderful men of God. Morris married Karen in 1959 and loved and cherished her until her death in 2006. They were both proud graduates of Baileysville High School – Class of 1956, and attended and enjoyed many class reunions over the years. Morris was an employee of Ashland for over 40 years and made many dear and life-long friends during his employment with the gas company. Morris and Karen were devoted to their children, their families, and their church. Morris loved serving the Lord at Baileysville Baptist Church as a Deacon and a Trustee. Morris was passionate about Baileysville High School and Westside High School sports and spent many happy nights at the little gym at Baileysville. In his later life, he loved to show his 76 Corvette in local car shows. He was always accompanied by his dear friend and loving companion, Wanda Mills. It is impossible to know the impact of the life of a man like Morris Davis. He passed on his work ethic, his faith and his love to his sons and grandsons as the way a man should live. He was a faithful and steadfast man, to his Lord Jesus and the church in which he served Him. In addition to his parents and step-father, he was preceded in death by loving wife, Karen Roberts Davis, his father and mother in law, Don and Burneda Roberts, his sisters in law Jackie Davis, Patsy Roberts Bennet and her husband Judd, and Rita Roberts. Those left to cherish memory are his loving sons Morris Kevin Davis and wife Sonja, and Barry Keith Davis and wife Linda. Grandsons, Morris Caleb Davis and wife Ryan and great grand daughter Avery Huffman, Michael Davis and wife Kayla and his first great grandson Maverick (who was born May 23rd and never had the chance to meet his great grandfather), Cameron Davis and wife Sophie, Austin Davis and wife Kirsten. His dear and loving brother, Bob Davis, sister in law Jane Turoczy and husband Jimmy, brother in law Rod Roberts, Wanda Mills, his faithful and loving companion, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and finally his church family at Baileysville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at Baileysville Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 18th at 11:00 am, with Pastor Ron Harvey officiating. Friends may gather with the family at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville on Monday, June 17th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
