Mildred Irene Rose Shannon, 98, of Crossville, TN (formerly of Pineville), went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at her home.
Born October 13, 1923 in Mullens, she was the daughter of the late WW and Faye Workman Rose.
Mildred was born and spent most of her life in Wyoming County. She was a very involved resident in the town of Pineville.
Mildred attended Concord College. During WWII she was asked to leave school early and teach at local schools. After finishing her education, she taught English and business classes at Pineville High School for many years. She was a longtime member of Pineville United Methodist Church, where for over seventy years, she was active in every church function. She loved singing in the church choir. She was also a member of the Pineville Woman's Club.
Mildred was loved by all that knew her, she will be missed but, the legacy she left to her students and to all that knew her, will continue for decades to come.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, UJ Shannon and her brother, Harold Rose.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, Pat Olsen and Mike Shannon; two grandchildren, Chris Olsen and Dara Shannon; her four great-grandchildren; her beloved sister, Lucille Cook; and a host of friends, family, and dearly loved church family.
