We know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love forever leaves an indelible imprint on our lives.
Our precious mother Mary Ann Anderson left us for her eternal home on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Born on July 8, 1929 in Greenbrier County, Mary was the daughter of the late Morgan Gregory and Bessie Ann Bowes Gregory. Mary devoted her life to her husband, her "four girls", and her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and her organizational skills were extraordinary. She loved to can and her vegetable and flower gardens were a sight to behold. There is no doubt, today she is spending time in the most beautiful garden of all.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John, great-granddaughter Baylee Garrett; grandson, Jonathan Powell; son-in-law, Fred Garrett; and siblings, Alma Jean Blankenship, Alva Lee Blankenship, Donald Bowes, Arlie Gregory, Kenneth Gregory, and Margaret Short.
Those left to cherish her beautiful memory are her daughters Carol Garrett of Pineville, WV; Barbara Gilmore and her husband Jack of Princeton, WV; Letha White and her husband Gerald of Statesville, North Carolina; and Melissa Powell and her husband Tim of Princeton, WV; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Edna McVey of Lewes. Delaware, Norma Marcum of Vacaville, California, Rema Kidd of Bassett, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Dr. Todd Smith and Kay Lambert; and her Princeton Health Care Center Family.
Mary's family will celebrate her life in a private service at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville, WV with Pastors Donald "Doc" Adkins and Erwin Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny. Serving as Pallbearers are Eric Eddy, Andy Alvis, Kevin Garrett, John Garrett, Jason Gilmore, Michael Cook and Bo Garrett. In lieu of flowers, friends, and family wishing to honor Mary are invited to make a donation in her name to Princeton Healthcare Center, 315 Courthouse Road, Princeton WW 24740 toward the Mary Anderson Memorial Garden.
