Lacy Garland “Blue” Cox Sr., 90, of Naoma, passed away peacefully November 23, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, Following a short illness.
Born November 8 1926, In Maben, he was the son of the late William M. and Martha J. Pendry Cox.
Mr. Cox was a retired coal miner and long standing member of the UMWA. He was raised in Keyrock. Lacy served in the Navy from 1946 to 1951, He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying many years coon hunting and fishing in West Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee. He loved studying and reading his bible daily.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Sue Lana Cox and Vickie Dawn Cox; Brothers, Bernard, Romie and Floyd Cox of Veterans and his sisters, Lydia Cox Hatfield and Marie Cox Hansbargar.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Lacy G. Cox Jr. of Corrine, Steve Cox of Garwood and and Jeff Cox and his wife Teresa of Glen Daniel; a daughter, Pamela Cox of Amigo; five half-sisters, Billie, Francis, Patsy, Bernice, and Betty; Beloved grandchildren, Michelle Sparks and her husband Richie of Rock, Lacy G Cox III and his wife Melinda of Hillsville VA, Alan Cox of Bonita Springs FL, Stevie and Jeremy Cox of Mullens, Joshua S Cox of Puyallup WA, Jonathan and his wife Miranda of Naoma, Cory Cox of Glen Daniel, Morgan Cox of Amigo and Shyanne Rose; great grandchildren, Cory D McGuire and his wife Brittany of Stanaford, Lili and Andrew Cox of Hillsville VA, Haeden J Cox of FL, Draiden Of Glen Daniel and Gabriel Cox of Naoma and a sister in law Bonnie Cox.
Graveside rites will be held at 1pm Saturday December 3, 2016 at the Cook’s Chapel Cemetery at Keyrock. Online condolences may be left for the family at Evans-Calfee.com, Evans-Calfee Funeral Service of Pineville is serving the Cox family.
