John Gregory Ellis 55, from Pineville formerly of Kistler, passed away peacefully
with his family by his side following a long battle with kidney disease, on Decem-
ber 31, 2021. He’s now united with his wife, parents and other family members.
Born October 26, 1966, in Man he was the son of the late John Earl and Patsy
Ellis.
Greg was a Man High School graduate, a coal miner having worked as Fire Boss
at Blackhawk Mining in Lorado; he worked as a paramedic at Logan County Am-
bulance Service and STAT Ambulance in Pineville; and had coached Pineville lit-
tle league. He enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Alicia Smith Ellis;
a nephew, Adam Toler and a brother-in-law, Daniel Toler.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, two sons, Preston Mark Lee
Breeden, and John Stephen Ellis and a daughter, Delilah Emily Lou Ellis all of
Pineville; a sister, Jackie Gore and her husband, Barrington of Charleston, a broth-
er, Dewey Ellis and his wife, Rosa of Kistler, and sister, Donna Toler of Jefferson,
GA; several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be 12:00 pm Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Calfee
Funeral Home, in Pineville with Pastor John Toler officiation. He will be laid to
rest by his wife at Walker/Smith Cemetery in Pineville.
