John Mason Cox

John Mason Cox 71, of Pineville passed away Thursday November 7, 2019 in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley. 

Born January 9, 1948 in Peirpoint, he was the son of the late Mason and Beatrice Lilly Halsey Cox. 

John was a 1967 graduate of Pineville High School, he was a proud veteran of the United States Army, following his time of service he was coal miner, working for many years at Itman, he was a member of the UMWA. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with his family. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Three sisters Betty Clay, Delphia cox, and Pauline Blankenship. 

Those left to cherish his memory include 4 sisters Sue Cox, Margie Barnes and her husband Charlie, Kathy Clay and her husband Donald, and Deloris Allen his 2 brothers Mack Cox and his wife Virta, and Paul Eugene Cox and his wife Ginny, his very special friends Daniel and Paula Finney, and a host of nieces, and nephew. 

Service will be Monday November 11, 2019 at 1pm at Evans-Calfee funeral service, Pineville. Burial will follow in Cook Cemetery Key Rock.  Friends may gather with the family from Noon until service time Monday at the funeral home.
