Jane E Adkins

Jane Ellen Lattie Adkins, 72, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at Norton Hospital in Louisville KY.

She was the daughter of the late John William Lattie II and Marjorie Louise Lewis Lattie.

A lifelong learner, education was Jane’s passion. After earning her degree from Marshall University and deciding to specialize in Special Education, she began working for the Wyoming County Board of Education. Jane dedicated over forty years of her life to educating the special needs students of Wyoming County both in the classroom and in the homes of students who were homebound.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who thought the world of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cherished the memories made.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Lattie III and her granddaughter, Reese Anne Castle.

She is survived by her three children, Stephanie Adkins, Brian Adkins and wife Melissa and Alicia Castle and husband David; four grandchildren, Justin Henry Adkins, Wade Adkins, Benjamin Castle and Bellamy Adkins; six siblings, Clinton Pannell Lewis, Tommy Lattie, Doug Lattie, Mary Ann Crowell, Nancy Stacy and Betty Jarrell; a host of nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
