Howard Linville Obituary

Howard Linville, 92, of Oceana went Home to be with his Lord, on Sunday September 22, 2024, at Bower’s Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 2, 1932, to the late Carl and Ida Linville. Howard was a well-known business owner who owned three businesses: Linville’s Coal, Bel-Mar Coal, and Howard’s Hotdogs.  Howard also gave to multiple charities. He loved playing golf, working with his flowers, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a faithful servant of the lord for over 75 years, reading through his Bible countless times. He truly lived the scripture “Study to show thyself approved”. Howard was a former member of Glen Fork Baptist Temple where he was a chairman of the Deacon Board and long time adult Sunday school teacher.  He attended Saulsville Baptist Church until his health declined and prevented him from attending.

In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Ramona Linville, one brother, Grover Linville, and three sisters: Barbara Stroupe, Naoma Elkins, and Hollene Linville.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children: Martha Lusk and husband Sharol, Belinda Lay and husband John, Frank Linville and wife Teresa.  Seven grandchildren: Natasha Cline and husband BJ, Rishona Jones and husband Jacob, John David Lay and wife Perla, Katie Alward and husband David, Rebecca Linville, Hannah Fleming and husband Will, and Bethany Lewellen and her husband Jake.  Five great-grandchildren: “Little Man” Cruz Cline, “Big Sister” Addison Jones, “Little Sister” Gracie Jones, Mabel Sloan Lewellen, and Baby Fleming due in February 2025. A special friend, Sandra Cobb. Caregivers: Wanda Carter, Penny Kennedy, Leigha Smith, Teresa Stewart, Karen Sigmon, and Teresa Hannah.  A host of nieces and nephews and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia
