Herbert "Woody" Adams

Herbert Woodrow “Woody” Adams, Jr., 74, passed away September 17, 2021.

Woody was born November 2, 1946 in McDowell County and was raised in Baileysville WV. He was the son of the late Herbert and Edith Adams.

Woody served his country in the Vietnam War shortly after his graduation from Baileysville High School. He worked for US Steele in the late 70’s and 80’s, then he worked for Ashland Oil and Gas (Equitable) until his retirement.

Woody was a man who loved the outdoors. He spent countless hours crappie fishing at RD Bailey Lake, Bull Falls, and Bluestone or whitetail hunting around home. He was blessed to take down “big bucks” in Wyoming County, his trophy being the seventeen-point buck that he took down about eight years ago.

Woody was a gardener throughout his life and enjoyed sharing his vegetables with neighbors and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, David Adams and wife Amy and Ryan Adams and wife Marissa; grandsons, Jacob Adams and wife Autumn and Caleb Adams; brother, Roger Adams of Ohio; sister, Gloria Jean Stewart of SC; and friends that he made throughout the years.
