Goldia Allen Obituary

Goldia Mae Atwell Allen, 98, of Baileysville, West Virginia entered her Heavenly home on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Born April 26, 1927, in Newhall West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Lawrence Atwell and August Farley Atwell.

Goldia was a devoted Christian and dedicated her life to being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an animal lover who adopted many homeless dogs and cats.  She was a generous contributor to a variety of charities supporting disadvantaged children and the elderly. Her hobbies included creating hand painted wall art, doll making, and flower arrangements. In addition to being a homemaker, Goldia was employed at various times by Wyoming County Headstart, the Wyoming County Board of Education and the Beckley Newspaper Corporation.

In addition to her parents, Goldia was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill Allen, an infant son, and her mother and father-in-law Andrew Lee and Emma Morgan Allen. Her brothers: Odell, Verlin, Raymond and Justin Atwell, and one sister, Leola Brooks.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son Mike Allen, a daughter Rhonda Toler and her husband Don, granddaughters Andrea Tilley and her husband DJ of Morristown, TN and Allison Warden and her husband Adam of Milton, WV.  She also leaves three great-grandchildren: Aden, Hudson, and Ella Yvonne Tilley of Morristown, TN.  One sister, Sylvia Stafford and one sister-in-law, Joyce Vance of Baileysville, WV.  Her friend, Rachel Hatfield of Coal Mountain, WV, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the Brenton Volunteer Fire Department and the staff of Pine Lodge Nursing Home for their service and kindness.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends make a donation to their favorite charities.
