Glenna Mae Harris, age 87, of Pineville, West Virginia, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
Glenna was one of the most loving, caring, giving, and compassionate women you could ever meet. Small in stature but mighty in spirit, she carried a bold personality inside her petite frame. She poured love into everyone around her and lived a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.
Glenna had a competitive spirit and was an avid lover of sports. She never missed a chance to cheer on her children. Her voice rang through every gymnasium, football field, and ballpark, and even from home, you could hear her cheering as if she were right there in the stands. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always supporting them with enthusiasm and deep love.
Above all, Glenna loved the Lord with her whole heart. She was a beautiful child of God, a prayer warrior of the highest degree, and the one her family turned to in their times of need. Her faith was steady, unwavering, and powerful. She prayed fiercely for her loved ones, lifting them up daily with a strength only God could have given her.
Glenna was a charter member of the Pineville Church of God, where she faithfully served for decades. She was active in the Ladies Ministry and a proud member of the Red Hats Society. She loved her church, supported her church, and worked diligently in every area she could. Her dedication, servant’s heart, and joyful spirit made her a cornerstone of the congregation and a blessing to everyone who worshipped beside her.
Glenna worked for a time at Buddy’s Discount Store, but the majority of her career was spent as an Assistant Manager at Goodson’s Supermarket, where she faithfully served for nearly 40 years. Goodson’s became her second home and the place where she formed countless lifelong friendships. Her light shined across the entire county as she greeted customers by name, offered encouragement, and often paused to pray with those in need. Glenna never simply worked. She ministered, loved, and connected with every person who walked through the doors.
Glenna never met a stranger and was the kind of woman who would give you the shirt off her back. Her kindness was endless, and her love had no boundaries. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and generosity that will continue to inspire those who knew her. She had a heart of gold, infectious personality, and radiant smile that would light up an entire room. She loved people deeply, and people loved her right back.
Glenna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie (Gerald) England of Jesse, WV; her son and daughter-in-law, David (Tammy) Harris of Beckley, WV; her grandson, Davy Harris of Beckley, WV; her granddaughter, Brittany “Binki” Harris of Charleston, WV; and two cherished great-grandchildren, Kamdyn and Jaxsen Harris, along with their mother, Ashley Justice of Princewick, WV, who she loved like a granddaughter. Glenna loved her daughter and son-in-law as if they were her own children. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Eugene (Margene) Adams of Macomb, MI; her brother and sister-in-law, Eddie (Teresa) Adams of Beckley, WV; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who adored her.
Glenna is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Gene Harris, who her family knows has been patiently waiting for her in Heaven along with her parents, Oscar and Bertie Adams; her sister and brother-in-law, Pauline (Richard) Goode; and her brother, Herald Adams.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Glenna’s life on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11:00am. Services will follow at 12:00pm at the Pineville Church of God in Pineville, WV. Burial services will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV. A celebration of life will be officiated by Rev. Carson Gray and Rev. Norman Gray.
Family members will serve as pallbearers. Evans-Calfee Funeral Service is in charge of the services.
A special thank you to the Hospice House of Southern West Virginia for the extraordinary care, compassion, and dignity they provided to our precious Mom, Mamaw, and GiGi in her final days. Our family will forever be grateful.
Until we meet again, we will cherish her memory and carry her love in our hearts every day.
