Gerald “Jerry” Hager, 74, of Pineville passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2023.
He was born to the late David Watson Hager and Lillie Tennessee Hager in New York on September 19, 1947.
He was a member of Rock Castle Baptist Church. Although his health issues kept him from attending in person, he faithfully listened to the services from home.
Jerry was a 1966 graduate of Oceana High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. After the Navy, he worked as a welder at National Mines and S&T Welding. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, David and Lillie Hager, father-in-law Cash Halsey and mother-in-law Cora Halsey.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Barbara Ann Halsey Hager of Pineville, daughter Tammie Lynne Hager Short and son-in-law Jeff Short of Charleston and daughter Vanessa Ann Hager of Pineville. He also leaves behind twin brother Larry Hager of Beckley and sister Betty Ann Warren of Tennessee. Survivors also include grand-godson Alex Akers and his wife Heather and their two children Haydn Belcher and Alexander Akers of Pineville. Lastly, he leaves behind his beloved companion Boots the Cat.
