Obituary

Elouise Brooks Ratliff. 86, of Princeton, departed this life peacefully at the Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia, Monday, May 3, 2021.

Born February 18, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Omar and Hilda Irene Brooks.

During her years of living at Coal Mountain, Elouise made a profession of faith and was a faithful member of the Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church.

She was a member of the Baileysville High School class of 1953.

Elouise loved spending time with her friends and going dancing. She loved to Square Dance, Line Dance, Ballroom Dance and Jitterbug. It didn’t matter to her. She lived her life to the fullest and died the way she wanted.

When Elouise enters Heaven, God is going to say, “Welcome home…there’s that dancing woman I told ya’ll about.”

In addition to Elouise’s parents, her husband, former Army Sgt. Paul Ratliff has been waiting on her in Heaven since June 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Glenda Miller, brother, Oley Brooks and her twin sister, Louise.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert “Robbie” Ratliff and wife, Leisha of Pineville; daughters, Jackie Cook of Camden, SC and Alicia Lester and husband, Jim of Grandview; grandchildren, Chris Lester, Chad Lester, Karrie Mutterback, Jason Cook and Brandon Ratliff; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kinlee, Kacie, Hailee, Clay, Logan, Deegan, Maleah, Lincoln, Amelia, Tonya, Bryce, Alivia and Aerial.
