Edward "Ed" Blaisdell Obituary

Edward  "Ed" Latemar Blaisdell 77, of Rockview passed away on Wednesday February 3, 2021.

Born September 20, 1943 in Charleston he was the son of the late Otis and Nola Blaisdell.

Ed was a very proud Veteran of the Untied States Army and a proud coal miner who worked hard his whole life. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Welch Branch.  He valued family, friends, faith, loyalty and hard work.  He was a handy man and could repair most anything.  Ed loved people, “cutting up” as he called it, telling stories and the ocean.  Ed was a determined soul and if someone told him he couldn’t do something; he’d be sure to prove them wrong. Ed loved his devoted wife of 56 years, his family, his country, his church family and most of all the Lord.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by ; Otis W. Blaisdell, brother: Zelma Smith, sister: Nola Griffith, sister; Matthew Blaisdell, brother; Marlene Blaisdell, sister; Heather Shaw, granddaughter.

Those left to cherish his memory include;

Spouse: Letha Christaline Blaisdell of Rock View, WV

Daughters: Karen Blaisdell and Ken Bailey of Kernersville NC

Lana and Chris Robertson of Wake Forest NC

Sherry and Calvin Batts of Petersburg VA

Rhonda Mullens of Linside WV

Crystal Blaisdell and Keith Burkhart of Lexington NC

Sisters: Ramona Jarrett of Dunbar WV

Grandchildren: Derek Robertson, Jimmy Mullens, Nolabeth Burkhart

The family would ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard Po Box 103 Cyclone West Virginia 24827

A public memorial will be held at a later date, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

HIS WALK HOME

The strands of light slip up to Heaven

Not understanding just what we've been given

Your soul you see, it cannot hold on

It must go through, it must go on

Life's made of a thread of silk and Divine

We cannot go past, we are all left behind

As time sinks in and life settles down

I know you are here, I know you're around

Go it alone now and go wait for me

Under Grandpa's silver birch tree.
