Eddy Blankenship, 71, of Rock View, passed away Sunday March 2, 2025, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV following a long courageous battle with cancer. Born September 3, 1953, he was the son of the late Curtis and Marie Blankenship.
Eddy was a lifelong resident of Rock View. He was a 1971 graduate of Pineville High School and worked a variety of jobs. He spent several years driving trucks cross country but enjoyed all his years with the United States Post Office the most. He loved spending time with all his postal coworkers and helping deliver the mail to his customers. Eddy also had love for all animals, but especially his cats.
In addition to his parents, Eddy was preceded in death by his brothers Danny Blankenship and Jerry Blankenship as well as a nephew, Christian Baldwin.
Survivors include his sister Peggy Baldwin and her husband Larry of Rockview and nephews and a niece as follows: Erik (Tanya) Baldwin of Princeton, Jonathan (Stefanie) Baldwin of Rock View, Tommy (Kim) Blankenship of Corrine, and Kim (Edwin) Toler of Summersville, SC. Additionally, he will be missed by all of his grandnephews and grandnieces.
A celebration of Eddy’s life will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Michael Knotts officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny. Nephews, grandnephews, and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Nathan Hale at CAMC Urology in Charleston, Dr. Khanna at CAMC Cancer Center in Beckley, Family Healthcare of Pineville, Princeton Home Healthcare nurses, Bower’s Hospice House, Meals on Wheels, and all others who assisted Eddy during this trying time.
