On Saturday, November 1, 2025, Dorothy Lillian Lewis Paynter (72) of Pineville, WV went to her eternal reward to be with her husband Joseph and son Malcolm.
Born on June 14, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Earl A. and Zetta McCoy Lewis. She dedicated her life to helping and being a blessing to others. She was a great daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She worked many years as a dietitian at the Wyoming Continous Care Nursing Home.
She was married to the love of her life, Joseph M. Paynter, for nearly 50 years and was a loving mother to her son Malcolm S. Paynter for 47 years until they both predeceased her.
A lady of many talents, too numerous to name all them but here are just a few. She was beautiful and funny, bringing joy to everyone she met. She had a gift for story telling and was a talented singer and musician. She was also very creative making beautiful crafts and a wonderful cook making delicious meals and desserts seem effortless.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, her son Malcolm, her brothers-in-law Jesse Fitzwater and Jim Nicely.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter-in-law Ericka Paynter Morrison (Chris), grandchildren Skylie Wells (Owen), Adam Miller, Eliyanah Paynter, and Baylen Morrison, her great grandson Zane Wells, her sisters Arlene Fitzwater, Rovena Nicely, Patricia “Tootie” Simmons (Jim), Rachel Collins (Scott), her beloved brother-in-law Charlie and Wendy Paynter, sisters-in-law Kathleen Walker (James) and Joyce Cook, and her loyal best friends and prayer warriors Jackie Stewart and Joyce Bailey, along with many nieces and nephews.
Fly high Dorothy - we love you. “The Sisters” will never be the same now that our middle piece is forever missing.
