Donald Dean McCoy, 69, of Oceana, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at CAMC General Hospital following a sudden illness.
He was born June 15, 1951 in Logan, WV to the late Rudolph “Doc” McCoy and Ethel Jude McCoy.
Donald loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, when his health allowed him to do so. He was a disabled coal miner and a member of the UMWA and NRA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane McCoy and children, Kimberly McCoy and Donald McCoy Jr, all of whom perished in the Buffalo Creek flood. His granddaughter, Emma Grace McCoy and sisters, Lillian Whitt, Linda Cole and Shelia Egnor also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Sue McCoy; children, Patricia Cook and husband, Billy, Tonya McCoy, Bruce McCoy and Erica Blankenship and husband, Scott (all of Oceana); grandchildren, Rio and Gabe Cook, Jacob, Hannah, Abby and Lauren Blankenship, and Lilly and Dylan McCoy (all of Oceana); siblings, James McCoy and wife, Phyllis, Ronald McCoy (his twin brother) and wife, Theresa of Amherstdale, Harold McCoy and wife, Jean Ann of Man and Kathy Dillion and husband, Jimmy of Stony Point, NC; and a host of extended family and friends.
