Dixie Lee (Privett) Short

Dixie Lee Short, 83, of Pineville, passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2025.   Born on July 18, 1941, one of eight children, she was the daughter of the late George A Privett, Sr. and Gay Beverly Privett. 

Dixie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for cooking. Shopping was another favorite pastime, offering her both enjoyment and relaxation. A fan of Elvis Presley, she listened to his music often. Above all, Dixie treasured time spent with family. Whether gathered around the table sharing a meal, stories, or laughter, those moments were what she cherished the most.

In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Larry Short, and one daughter, Sherry Lawson.  Two sisters; Ilene Privett and Irene Stump.  Four brothers; Tracy Privett, Mert Privett, Roy Privett, and Garland Privett.

Survivors include one brother, George Privett Jr.  One Granddaughter, Christina Lester and husband Jamie. One great-grandson, Jamie Lester Jr.  A son-in-law, Johnny Lawson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In keeping with Dixie’s wishes, no public service will be held.  She will be laid to rest at Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny.
