Desarae Chentel Godsey, 20, of New Richmond, passed away Thursday,

February 8, 2024, in Raleigh County.

She was born January 5, 2004, in Beckley to Amy Shumate and the late Douglas Gene Whitt Jr. Desarae was raised by her grandparents, Janet Morton and Adam Ferguson, who loved her beyond measure.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Sonjya Jean Smith; great-grandparents, Butch Blankenship, Margrette Browning and James and Jeanette Godsey; and uncles, Michael C Morton, and Shane Godsey.

Those joining her grandparents in cherishing her memory are her brothers, Dillon and Dalton Reeves; grandfather, Timothy Shumate; uncles, Gregory Stines and Gary Tilly; aunts, April Sam and Annie; great-uncle, James D Godsey Jr; great-aunts, Susie and Ashley Godsey; cousins, Liam and Skylar Stines, Daniel, Shana, Carleen and Ava Godsey; and many more.
