Deloris Ann Riffe Lawrence, 74, of Baileysville, WV, formerly of Sugar Grove, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 29, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of the late Vella and Omar Riffe and was preceded in death by her two brothers, Johnny and Douglas Riffe.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God, Deloris leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 59 years, Roger; her daughter, Sherri (Pete) Lawrence Hatfield of Brandywine; her son, Dean (Angie) Lawrence of Pineville; her treasured grandchildren: her one and only grandson, Nick Lawrence of Oceana, and five granddaughters, Megan Light and fiancé Josh Poe of Yadkinville, NC, Oksana Browning of Brandywine, Cheyenne Browning of Brandywine, Emilee (Dawson) Lawrence Browning of Oceana, and Hannah Lawrence of Oceana. Deloris was also blessed with 4 precious great-grandchildren, David Poe, Everett Poe, Jackson Browning, Madison Browning, and was joyfully awaiting the arrival of another great-grandson, Fisher Browning in July.
Deloris was a gifted writer, penning dozens of award-winning poems that captured the beauty of life and faith. She was also a talented artist, using her brush to paint breathtaking murals in churches and homes, leaving behind works of art that continue to be admired. Her heart for service led her to volunteer with the National Forest Service in Pendleton County, always seeking ways to give back to her community.
Above all, Deloris was a passionate follower of Christ. She traveled alongside her husband as he preached the gospel, sharing her voice through song in their group, The Glory Echoes. In every chapter of her life, she spread the word of her Jesus, living as a testament to His grace and love.
Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, but her spirit, her faith, and the beauty she created in this world will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
A graveside service will be held at the Sugar Grove Cemetery in Sugar Grove, West Virginia on Sunday May 4, 2025.
