David Van Biggs, age 62, died peacefully on September 19, 2022 in Wake Forest, NC.
Van was born in Albuquerque, NM on May 20, 1960, to the late Earl R Biggs and Edna M Biggs
of Glen Fork, WV. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger W Biggs. He was "big
brother" to Jeffrey {Stephanie} Biggs of Monroe, NC, and beloved "Uncle Van" to Joshua
{Vanessa} Biggs of NJ and Ethan Biggs of VA.
To his extended family, lifelong childhood friends, co-workers at Fijifilm, Army buddies and his
dear friend from college, thank you for your friendship and for being a part of his life that he held
dear to his heart.
After graduating from Glen Rogers High School and Glenville State College in WV , he enlisted
in the Army, being stationed at Fort Campbell KY from 1985-1987 where he served as Rifleman
in A Company 2/502 Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. While serving in that unit, he
trained cadets at the USMA in West Point. He also served in the Reserves from 1987-1993.
He was employed at FujiFilm Diosynth BioTechnologies in Morrisville, NC where he was a Lead
Recovery Technician. He was known by his co-workers as "Mr. Recovery"....if you had any
questions or wanted to know anything about Recovery, he knew it.
Van loved all things WV and was proud of his WV roots. According to him, WV is the center of
the universe. He loved watching WVU and Marshall sports. His passions were fishing in WV
rivers, creeks and lakes with family and friends, trying out new recipes and using his family as
willing guinea pigs to eat the food that he cooked, history books and documentaries, and the
cheesiest, most cringe-worthy old horror films. He loved music of all kinds.
Van is so much more than these things, it's hard to describe him and his life in just a few words.
To know Van was to care about him and to respect him. Van, you will be missed! You're not
gone, you're just out of our sight for a little while.
