Charlene Lillian Cooke, 91, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 8, 2026, at Wyoming Healthcare in New Richmond.
Born December 6, 1934, in Baileysville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Shields and Veta Mae Davis Shields.
A lifelong resident of Wyoming County, Charlene was a longtime member of Pineville United Methodist Church, as well as the Women’s Club and Garden Club. She spent many hours quilting and crafting and had a love of painting. When not putting her creative skills to use, she absolutely loved to go bowling and was very skilled.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-nine years, Harry Cooke and her brother, James Lloyd Shields.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Leah Mendez and her husband John; her son Phillip Cooke and his wife Debbie; six grandchildren, Ryan, Zach, Erin, Taylor, Tori and Adam; nine great-grandchildren; and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Charlene's honor to: Pineville United Methodist Church, PO Box 382, Pineville, WV 24874.
