Carol Ann Coffey McKinney, 86, of Garwood, entered into Heaven January 30, 2025, following a long illness. Born March 5, 1938, she was the firstborn child of the late Clayton Ivory and Edith Leeomy Coffey. Carol attended Covel Missionary Baptist Church and Spruce Grove. She served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary, and treasurer. She enjoyed time with her church family. Carol worked at Wyoming General Hospital until it closed. She worked at Talon Manufacturing and Mullens Public Library until her retirement. She enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends. She shared her love of animals with her children and always had a family pet.
In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her first husband – Curtis McKinney, and her second husband- Buren McKinney. Her son, Ronald Lee McKinney, and an infant daughter, Melanie Faith McKinney. Two grandchildren, William Curtis McKinney and Aaron Bradley Scott. Three sisters: Fredia McKinney, Linda Jolly, and Jerry Coffey. One infant brother, James Edward Coffey.
Survivors include her children: Michael McKinney and wife Cathy, Sherman McKinney and wife O’Lisa, Terri Scott and husband Steve, Tamela Keaton and husband Charlie, and Melissa Lusk and husband Bryan. A daughter in law, Medina Richmond. One sister, Peggy McIntyre. Grandchildren: Regina McKinney, Megan McKinney, Preston McKinney, Jody Horton, Ronnie McKinney, Andrew Scott and wife Annie, Lindsay Pack and husband Travis, Curt Lusk, Bradley Lusk, and several step grandchildren. Great grandchildren: Gabby, Nate, Xander, Louren, Elisa, Maggie, Josie, Reed, Noah, Lillie, Penelope, Conan, Jacob, and Halie. Carol also leaves behind a large extended family including nieces, nephews, and cousins in Florida and across the country.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, especially to Tanya, Lisa, Amy, and Stephanie – whose love and compassion made a difficult situation better.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Monday, February 3, at 2:00 pm at Covel Baptist Church with Mike Williams officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to service.
