Billy Joe Cook

Billy Joe Cook, 89, of Rock View, passed away Thursday April 29, 2021 at his residence.

Born May 25, 1931 in Rock View, he was the son of the late Fred Cook and Faye Mullins Cook Daugherty.

Most of Billy Joe’s career was spent with Buycrus-Erie, an American surface and underground mining equipment company. His work took him around the world before finally retiring to his hometown of Pineville.

He was an avid hunter, loved to fish and was an expert gardener. Billy Joe enjoyed any activity that took him outdoors. He also was a craftsman, woodworker and could build anything.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepdad, Bill Daugherty, brothers, Roger and Herbert Cook, a sister, Cletis Calhoun and a daughter Sherri Fawn Cook.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Janice, sons, Joseph Keith Cook and wife Francis, Chris Cook and wife Michelle, daughters,  Robin Lamb, Shelia Long and husband Marshall, Gwenn Mayhew and husband Ronnie, Tammy Repass and husband Bill, Myra O’Neal, Djedda Denke and husband Mike, stepchildren, Melissa Stable and Joe Flaugher,  brother, Selby Cook, sisters, Delma Rainwater, Sonja Brewer, Reva McMillian, Janie Williams and Trilla Cook, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
