Betty Jo Dorton Hanshaw 90, of Pineville, formerly of Coal Mountain went to be with her Lord on Wednesday December 15, 2021 in the Bowers Hospice House, in Beckley.
Born February 1, 1931 in Leatherwood Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Mac and Irene Myers Dorton.
Betty was a Christian, she loved her family with the same devotion she had for her Lord, Betty was selfless, always putting the needs of others, ahead of her own. She loved the community she grew up in and was one of the organizers of the Coal Mountain Family Reunion. In later years Betty and her late husband Euell, made their home in Pineville. Betty was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Euell Hanshaw, 4 brothers and 1 sister Margerat Thacker, Bill Dorton, Bob Dorton, Harold Dorton, and Gene Dorton, Two son-in-laws Donnie Cook, and Goerge Cox.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three children: Belinda Cook Bias and her husband Jack, Debbie Cox and her companion Walt Lester, and Jr Hanshaw. Four grandchildren Craig Cook and his wife Stephanie, Tara Hatfield and her husband Adam, Bethany Cox and GW Cox. Great Grandchildren: Piper, Mazie, Zane, MaKinlei, Sadie, Chase, Kadan, Riley, Jax, Mason, Nate,Morgan and Tanner. Five great great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
