Arlene B Bowes

Arlene Bethel Bowes, 84, peacefully went to be with her Lord Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

The daughter of the late Roy Ace Elkins and Nina Hazel Graham Elkins, she born January 14, 1938 in Oceana, WV.

Arlene was a longtime member of Delilah Methodist Church. She loved her family dearly and took absolute joy in taking care of them. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Reo Donald Bowes; three brothers, Ronald, Arnold and Arnett Elkins; and three sisters, Wanda Jeffcoate, Norma Strickland and Yvonne Heath.

Those left to cherish Arlene’s memory are her two daughters, Madonna Powers and husband, Melvin of Fairdale and Karen Brown and husband, Eric of Oceana; a special niece whom she loved like a daughter, Trish Cook; grandchildren, Melvin “BJ” Powers, Candace Blankenship and husband, Bilton and Derek Brown; great-grandchildren, Jaci and Braylee Blankenship and one on the way; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the employees of Hospice of Southern WV and Bowers Hospice House for the exceptional care given to Arlene.
