Alma Nyoka (Burks) Snyder

Alma Nyoka Burks Snyder 82, of Herndon, passed away on Saturday May 2, 2026, at her home.

Born June 6, 1943, in Bud, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Laura O’Neal Burks.

Alma loved gardening, canning, and working on her farm. She worked at the Snack Shop, and Dairy Queen both in Mullens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ray “Bugle” Snyder. Her longtime companion Bernie Shrewsbury. Two sisters: Patty Hatcher, and Dolly O’Neal. Her brother, Richard Burkes.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two children: Debra Snyder and Buddy Ray Snyder.  Three grandchildren: Melissa Snyder, Adam Snyder, and Bianca Snyder. 6 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson arriving soon. Two Brothers: Bill Burks, and Everett Burks. Two sisters: Connie Walker, and Leona Sizemore. A host of nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
