Alfred Ellison Obituary

Alfred "Wayne" Ellison of Rock View, passed away Monday April 20, 2020 at his home following a long illness. Although his health was poor for several years, Wayne never stopped fighting.

Born August 14, 1955 in Pineville, he was the son of the late Gladys and Alfred Ellison.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Kathy Blankenship and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and David Brooks.  Wayne was a member of the Rockcastle Baptist Church, had a strong faith in his Lord, and loved his church family.  As long as his health would allow, he was an active church member.

He was a 1973 graduate of Pineville High School. Wayne's career was that of a welder/fabricator. Wayne had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest, until his failing health prevented it. He had a contagious sense of humor. Wayne loved bowling, vacation and traveling, cooking, Southern Gospel music, working on various projects outside and especially loved his wife Susie and sister Pam.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 31 years Susan Gayle (Brooks) Ellison of Keyrock, his brother Timmy (Sherri) Ellison of Pineville, his sister Pamela Ellison of Rock View, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law include: Linda Glander (Bruce Helms) of Knoxville Tenn, Kati (Stephen) Walls of Keyrock, Paula (Danny) Brooks of Jesse, Laura (Danny) Burdette of Keyrock.  Nieces and nephews include: Tommy (Kim) Blankenship of Corinne, David (Trish) Boggs of San Jose Ca; Mary Beth (Luis) Apellaniz of Raleigh NC; Megan (Kendrick) Gay of Raleigh NC, Samuel Toler of Providence RI; Hannah Walls of Keyrock; Kate Hill (Joe Klass) of Morgantown WV; Amie (Chris) Mullens of Fairmont;  Andrew Hill of Atlanta GA; Jonathan (Stephanie) Brooks of Jesse; Jewel (Justin) LaClair of Moneta Va; and Zach (Anjel) Cook of Beckley. Great nieces and nephews include: Emma Blankenship, Luis David Apellaniz, Nylinde Gay, Claire Mullens, Jillian Baird, Kaylee Harold, Dale Harold and Donovan Cook.  He will be sadly missed by all of his aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends, and his best friend, Ron Pryor of AL.

A private service will be held at Palm Memorial Gardens with his Pastor, Rev. Silas Mullins and his Brother-in-Law Rev. Stephen Walls, officiating.  Pallbearers will be Tommy Blankenship, Brad Ellison, Jonathan Brooks, Zach Cook, Glen Brooks, Mike Johnson and Roger Snow.
