Addie Kennedy Ellis, 86 of Pineville, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021. She was born December 9, 1934 in War Eagle, West Virginia to the late Floyd Kennedy and Violet Cline Kennedy Compton. For many years, she worked at the former Pineville Fashion Shop and Men’s Store, and was a former member of the Pineville Women’s Club. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, shopping, watching TV, and listening to gospel music, especially the Gaithers. Addie was one of twenty children, and liked many things, however, her family and grandchildren were always first.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ellis, a son, Jeffrey Ellis, six brothers, Jessie Kennedy, Floyd Kennedy, Keenan Compton, Lucky Compton, Ronnie Compton, and Lowell Compton, eight sisters, Dorothy Kennedy, Mable Allen, Jean Chambers, Joann Hatfield, Nina Ellis, Patty Compton, Maxine Johnson, and Sherry Compton.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Kevin Ellis and wife Laura of Pineville, and Chris Ellis and his wife Brandee of Youngsville, NC, five grandchildren, PJ, Travis, Jeffrey, Kamryn, and Kaylee Ellis, two great-grandchildren, Bayleigh and Ian Ellis, three brothers, Eddie and Gerald Compton of Wharncliff, and Mason Compton of Columbus, OH, two sisters, Charlene Miller of Beckley, and Cheryl Dempsey of Columbia, SC.
A service celebrating Addie’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in the chapel of Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville with Pastor Michael Knotts officiating. Entombment will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM at the funeral home.
