Thomas Shumate Obituary

Thomas Larry Shumate 67, of Ravencliff went home to be with his Lord, on Thursday September 27, 2018, following a long illness.

Born April 23, 1951 at McGraws, he was the son of the late Frank and Mildred Ellis Shumate.

Thomas was a coal miner, with over twenty seven years of service, working at the Eastern mines, at Kopperston. He was an avid coon hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and enjoyed being with them. Thomas was a Christian and was devoted to the Lord.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Robert Shumate, and his sister, Ollie Mae Tilley.

Those left to cherish his memory, include his loving wife of almost forty seven years, Patricia Hall Shumate, one daughter, Carrie Shumate and her companion, Eric Simerly, an adopted granddaughter, Emilie Shumate, one granddaughter, Kaylie Shumate, two brothers, Bill Holhouser and Charlie Shumate, one sister, Barbara Meadows, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family, and many friends.

Services will be Wednesday October 3, 2018 at 1pm in the Chapel of Evans-Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville, with Pastor John Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ravencliff. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family from 11:00am until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
