Jerry "Shaky" Shumate Obituary

Jerry (Shaky) Keith Shumate 74 of Pineville passed away April 1, 2019 at Harper Mills Nursing Home in Beckley.

Jerry was born on January 20, 1944, the youngest of ten siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents Amos Johnson and Helen Pendry Shumate, siblings Bonnie Alice and Chris Shumate.

Jerry's truly missed his companion of 29 years, Barbara Chambers, who passed away in March 2018.

Those left to cherish his memory are sibling A.J. and Pat Shumate of Edenton NC, David Shumate and Andy of Charleston, Bill and Jeanette Shumate of Lebanon Pa, Joe and Lubys Shumate of Roxboro N.C. Martha Shumate Clay of Pineville, Yvonne Shumate Clay of Mullens, Annette Shumate Walk of Glenwood MD, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry will also be sadly missed by his beloved pet Bimbo.

Jerry was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Army. After being discharged from the military he became a welder for the UMWA working at various mines throughout the Eastern States before he settled in Pineville.

Private services will be held for the family.
