Janice Elkins

Janice Meredith Elkins, 87, of Oceana, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Bowers Hospice House. Born March 29, 1931 at Glen Fork she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Virginia Privett.

Mrs. Elkins was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church. She loved singing and playing the piano.

Mrs. Elkins graduated from Pineville High School in 48-49. She was a 1958 Graduate of Morris Harvey College. Mrs. Elkins taught music in Wyoming county elementary schools for thirty years before retiring.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Edna Jo Bailey, Iona Smith, Leona Aeby, Jackie Shrewsbury and Arretta Weaver.

Family left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of fifty years, Herbert J. Elkins; daughter, Sonja Ksiazkiewicz and her husband Richard; son, John Dow Meredith III; stepdaughter, Sheryll Lynn Elkins; two grandsons, Galen and his wife Brittany and Derrick; two granddaughters, Kayla and Sonia; two great grandchildren, Kassandra and Richard  and her extended family of Faith Baptist Church.
