Howard Workman 68, of Raccoon Branch on Indian Creek passed away Wednesday May 8, 2019.
Born March 5, 1951 in Welch, he was the son of Hurley Workman and the late Betty Day Bailey. He grew up in McDowell county but spent most of his life in Wyoming county. Howard was a retired coal miner. He was beloved father and grandpaw. He enjoyed spending his time with his horse and livestock and sitting in his rocker on his porch.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by, one brother Danny Workman, his daughter Michelle Byrd.
In addition to his father he is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Alice Bolt Workman, his three sons, Howard (Karen) Workman of Shop Branch, David and Allison Cyrus of Bolt, and Derek Bolt and Tarsha Green of Beckley, One adopted Son, Michael Cook, Two daughters Rose Smith of Lenoir N.C. and Angel Workman of Raccoon Branch, he was blessed with 9 grand children one special grandson Jaxson Workman and one great grandson, his brothers and sisters, Donald and Susan Workman of Lashmeet, Carl and Paty Workman of Anawalt, Ann and Mark Scott of Sandlick, Betty Scott of Sandlick and Jenny Workman of Sandlick,and a very special friend King Horvath, and countless more friends and extended family.
Visitation will be Tuesday May 14, 2019 from 11-12pm at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service Pineville. Following the service he will be laid to rest in the Workman family Cemetery in Rockhouse up Carswell Hollow in McDowell County. A family gathering to celebrate Howard's life will be held in Linkous Park in Welch following the burial.
