Elsie Hurley

Elsie Hurley 93, of Glen Fork went home to be with her Savior on Friday April 19, 2019 surrounded by her family. 

Born April 21, 1925 in Glen Fork she was the daughter of the late Byram and Lela Day Blevins. 

Elsie was a born again Christian, she stood in the light of the Lord her entire life. She faithfully served the Lord, as a member of the Russel Baptist Church in Glen Fork, where she loved singing in church. She was a homemaker, whose love for her family came out in everything she did, be it sewing, or cooking huge family meals. She truly lived a life of service to her Lord and to her family. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years Rev. Avner J. Hurley, her son Staff Sgt Hassel Hurley, her daughter Linda Clawson, her granddaughter Tina Burson, and 3 brothers. 

Those left to carry on her Legacy include her 3 children Nancy Darlene Swim of Glen Fork, Ronald Hurley and his wife Hazel of Glen Fork, and Edward Hurley and his wife Betty of Statesville N.C. her sister Edith Bartell, 2 brothers Oakley Blevins and his wife Mary Helen, David Blevins, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of extended family, and countless friends. 

Services will be Wednesday April 24, 2019 at Noon, in the Russel Baptist Church, Glen Fork, with Gene Reid and her pastor, Rev. Lucian Brown officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Family and Friends will serve as her pallbearers. 

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville.
