David Earl Pelphrey, 52, passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 16, 2018 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Born April 19, 1966 in Logan, WV, he was the son of Earl Ray Pelphrey and the late Myrtle Naomi Johnston Pelphrey.
David was a disabled coal miner. He spent the last several years at the beach, which he absolutely loved. David enjoyed white water rafting on the New River, bow hunting in the WV mountains, Motocross and baseball. He was an avid WVU sports fan.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded by his maternal grandparents, Andrew and Bertha Johnston and paternal grandparents, Sherman and Emma Pelphrey.
David is survived by his children, David “Chad” Pelphrey and wife, Darah of Dunbar and Thomas and Melissa Pelphrey of NC; his very special companion, Debora (Alicia) Lawson of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers, Timothy “Timbo” of Statesville, NC and Bill Willard of Craney; sisters, Kathy Whitley and husband, Cliff of Oak Hill, Sue McCoy and husband, Donald of Clear Fork; a special granddaughter, Maddison (Maddi) Brook Pelphrey, whom he loved very much; and a host of extended family and friends
