Bobby Franklin Stroupe, 86, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Salem VA Hospital in Salem, Virginia.
Born March 3, 1933 in Havaco, WV he was the son of the late James Walter Stroupe and Marion Dickens Stroupe.
Bobby was a graduate of Welch High School, where he was an outstanding football and baseball player. He joined the military at eighteen years old and retired after serving twenty years in the United States Air Force. He also retired from the Itman II coal mines after working there for twenty-one years.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith. He attended Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA.
Bobby was a good provider and wonderful dad who will be sadly missed by his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Barbara Ann Linville Stroupe.
Bobby is survived by his two children, Mitzi Morgan and husband, Gary Lee of Princeton and Jeffery William Stroupe and wife, Marcia Mason of Smith Mountain Lake, VA. Survivors also include four grandchildren; Jessica Garrett and husband, Wesley of Princeton and Jennifer Green and husband, Darren of Princeton and Ben and Ryan Stroupe of Smith Mountain Lake, VA; and great-grandson, Greyson Green.
