Roger “Porky” Lee Ward, 78, of Pineville, WV, passed away on March 4, 2022. Born December 1, 1943, in Freeburn, KY, he was the son of the late Robert Grayson and Pearl Ward. After graduation from Pineville High School in 1963. He worked in the coal mines and ran a small business known as Porky’s Mower Service until his retirement. After retirement you could find Roger in the woods hunting, on a river fishing, in the mountains riding, tending to his garden and making sawdust in his workshop. Roger spent many hours outdoors, his happy place, and in fellowship with his Christian community. It also meant so much to him spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Sue Ward; five brothers, Bill Ward, Frank Norman, John Henry Norman, Lawthie Ward and Walter Norman; eight sisters, Gartha Mayhorn, Janet Norman, Juanita Wolford, Lula Nunn, Pauline Adkins, Pearl Marie Lyons, Ruby Norman and Sue Baugh. Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Tracey Ward, of Roanoke, VA, and Kimberly Ballowe and husband, Stacey, of Blacksburg, VA; his pride and joy, granddaughter, Lilly Elizabeth Ballowe of Blacksburg, VA; brother Bob Ward and wife Carol of Beckley, WV; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, a loving community and many special friends that adored him.
